Our School
The Primary School of Skoutari is located in the Municipality of Serres, in the Regional Unit of Serres, within the Central Macedonia region. It is a public school that also operates as a full-day school.
The first Primary School of Skoutari was housed in 1922 in an exchangeable house, which was donated to the school board along with a plot of land of 2,400 sq. m. In 1929, in a plot of land of 7,000 sq. m., a two-classroom school building of 182 sq. m. was completed with funding from the state and contributions from the local residents.
The school operation ceased in October 1940-1941 due to the Greco-Italian War. Additionally, the Greek school in Skoutari did not function during the school years 1940-1944 because of the Bulgarian occupation. During the Greek Civil War, students from neighboring villages also attended the school.
From 1953 onwards, four extensions were added, including classrooms, a hallway, teachers’ offices, and indoor restrooms. In 1966, a kitchen facility was completed, while later two of its classrooms were used as a Scout office and a kindergarten. The schoolyard was fenced in 1968.
Between 1978 and 1986, the building also housed the High School of Skoutari (Middle School).

In 2005-2006, the Primary School of Konstantinato was merged with the Primary School of Skoutari. Today, students from nearby villages such as Agia Eleni and Peponia are also enrolled at the school.
Our school, in its current form, was inaugurated on May 20, 2013. It is a modern, eco-friendly, six-classroom model school, covering an area of 2,400 sq. m. It also has an auxiliary 250 sq. m. building for electromechanical installations and storage, as well as a 200 sq. m. covered gym area, within a total site exceeding 7,000 sq. m.

The building includes an administration wing with offices for the principal, teachers, and secretarial staff. It also has a medical office, a canteen, a dining hall, a multipurpose room with auxiliary spaces, a library/reading room, a waiting area, and dedicated classrooms for English, Computer Science, Robotics, and Music. There is also an independent classroom used as an Integration Class, as well as restrooms, including restrooms with accessible facilities for individuals with disabilities. The school is particularly accommodating to students with disabilities, featuring ramps in the schoolyard and an elevator inside the building.

All classrooms are fully equipped with computers, projectors, and Internet access. The classrooms for the fifth and sixth grades, as well as the Computer Science lab, are equipped with interactive whiteboards.

Our students are generally creative, ambitious, socially conscious, and responsible. They demonstrate fluency in new technologies and participate in activities beyond the classroom, such as school events, competitions, and volunteer initiatives. However, the student body includes a diverse range of learners, with many attending the Integration Class.
The teaching staff consists of highly qualified educators who regularly participate in training programs both inside and outside the school. They strive to adopt pedagogical and technological innovations, incorporating them into their teaching practices to benefit the entire school community. They provide students with equal opportunities for quality education, aiming for holistic development and smooth social integration so that they are well-prepared for future challenges.
Our school organizes internal training programs, social and solidarity actions locally and in collaboration with local organizations. It plays a vital role in the local community, closely connected to both the immediate and broader environment, constituting an integral part of the local society to which it belongs. It serves as a connecting link between the local community and the educational sphere, acting as a hub of knowledge and culture. Additionally, we participate in school activity programs, hands-on learning experiences, educational trips, and sports events.
Our school is outward-looking, inclusive, creative, and innovative, with wide horizons, fostering a spirit of social responsibility and ethical awareness among all members of the school community. Our goal is to strengthen the European dimension of our school and improve teaching practices for the benefit of our students. We aspire to create a school that is both pioneering and accessible, offering high-quality education for all.
Finally, we share a common vision for the continuous improvement of our school, striving to develop a new learning environment beyond traditional and conservative models.
